I still don't get how Muslim is a code word for black and why it matters. If anything, black people are mostly associated with christianity.
White people already have code words for blacks: low income, urban, inner city, underprivileged, impoverished communities.

If anything, Muslim could be a code word for Arab. The whole Muslim thing is because of 9/11. Before that, no one really cared about Muslims one way or another.

Malcolm X gave a speech at a christian church at the invitation of its pastor. He said that he did it because white people were killing blacks irrespective of religion, so a muslim black still has something to say to the christian black.

Arab is a code word for white. Kind of how white supremacist claims Egypt was Arab not Black or white. What they really mean is Egypt was white, which is a lie. So I understand completely.

I think Tariq thinks it's an anti-black slur because they use that to insult President Obama. I think they already hate him for being black, they just want to add Muslim as more of a reason to hate him.

Yeah, that was pretty much my take as well. They use Muslim as code for Arabs. They use illegal as code for Latinos.

Just invoking the term black is bad enough. They don't need more code words for us.

Thanks for this Tariq...women tend to get a bad rap just for wondering where the relationship is going. Guys start doing all types of Jedi mind tricks and telling you to shush...or they don't like titles etc. Even my husband has clowned me for it in the past. Relationships just don't work when women try to set the direction. I really wish more men would set direction from jump.
