First, every examples that you gave on heroes airing each other out all ended in infiltration. We need to move in unison because we don't have the same advantage that the dominant society has when fighting this war.
Umar was wrong on so many levels, and I recently addressed him for practicing "colorism" which would've offended our brother Malcolm.
But that doesn't mean that his intentions weren't sincere for building that school.
He has shot himself in the foot and I won't fuck with him for his colorism, but I hope he actually builds the school and do what he said he would do. But we should let all the facts come out and if he is in violation of public trust, then we finish him and not a moment sooner.
We have to extend that courtesy everyone until it's proven otherwise.

I've been a big supporter of Tariq and Dr.Umar. Still am. I've given money to both and I feel it is shameful that these two brothas and no one in the conscious community should take sides and encourage this non-sense. We should encourage them to come to the table and set aside their differences for the greater good of the Black race. Tariq makes movies and Dr.Umar focuses on Black children. Not shitin on Tariq but someone who champion our children and has experience as a principal and child psychologist should be taken into stronger regard because he wants to help our children. Makin movies that inform us is cool but Dr.Umar focuses more strongly on Black youth and that can't be taken lightly. We are supposed to be conscious brothas, not gangstas. Tariq got on his Tupac hit em up and the conscious community is no place for that. Both these brothas are wrong for talkin about how much they do more than the other. That's the ego talkin and the egos is for niggas. So what if you got more money than Umar. Tariq this ain't no hip-hop video showin how much more you got than so and so. I don't agree with everything Umar says and I don't agree with everything Tariq says. But we gotta set aside beefin over petty stuff for the greater good of the Black community. We are supposed to guide niggas not be niggas. Bottom line we ain't got no time for this devision among ourselves.

Meh, Dr. Umar is in the wrong but Tariq was doing some 'splaining about why he didn't call Umar out sooner. My man needs to just take the "L" on this one and apologize.

Umar not wanting to discuss the school funds is really suspect... I didn't really want to believe it because I thought the Shea butter crowd was just hating to hate (like they usually do to non-gay cis black men), but they were on point about him.

no doubt. I was rooting for Umar; We all were! His lectures were powerful though. I will not take that away from him. I learned a lot about healing and nurturing myself from what I thought was a dark place, mating tips (the irony) and the whole school thing empowered me to plan for my own child development LLC. Things began to shape peacefully for me too. I stopped listening to the new stuff a few years back bc he was mainly campaigning and it's time to put words in action but degg, I feel bamboozled! Never donated though. Funny that TV1 actually did a segment about him in a special about 5 years or so ago. It was about Jessie Jr., Ray Nagin, Kwame., etc. lumped pics of Umar and that "Shoemaker" name saying that he was a fraud, had been traveling to other countries swindling ppl, the whole sha-bang. I didn't want to believe it either. Play yo cards right ya'll.

The Legendary Chi Lites Son Families Story Saga Of Music Legacy Corruption And Corruption(FOR RED’S SAKE) GIVE MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE

-Synopsis –

The son of an R&B legend tells the incredible but true story of a family torn apart by greed, corruption and the systematic abuse of black artists in the United States. Darren Cubie grew up in St. Louis not knowing why assassination attempts, FBI investigations, and witness protection programs weren’t supposed to be a ’normal’ part of life. With the hall of fame success of the iconic soul group known as the Chi-Lites, Darren’s father, founding member Creadel “Red” Jones came a terrible price. Like so many other black artists of the day, the devil was in the details in the form of contracts and agreements with the mob filtered thru corrupt record executives and banksters. The bitter ending of Creadel’s journey in 1994, penniless on the streets of L.A., has spurred Darren on to become a champion for artists everywhere who’ve suffered from this decades-old system of abuse.

-Main Characters –

Darren Cubie, founder of Entertainers Against Corruption tells the story of Creadel “Red” Jones of the iconic Chi-Lites, the horrific betrayal by his mother Deborah Jones and aunt Regina Cubie and a family ripped apart by an industry of greed. It is thru the telling of the tale that positive change is achieved.

-Story Structure –

The documentary will feature archival footage of classic Chi-Lites performances as well as references to several R&B icons both past and present (i.e. Jackie Wilson, the Jacksons, Beyonce). Primarily the story is about Darren’s survival in the face of this machine that threatened to grind him and his family into the dirt. The refusal to bend to the systematic abuse the led Creadel to his tragic demise is Darren’s mission – changing the system, one story at a time. Throughout the recollection of the sad past of Darren’s life should be a present-day bridge showing his efforts to reverse things on behalf of artists everywhere. The day to day hustle of being the voice behind Entertainers Against Corruption. Ultimately we should see Darren continue to recruit other R&B and industry stars to the cause to not let his story repeat itself.

-Style –

The flashbacks can have a lo-fi look to them and the present day footage can be shot in a stylized way with go pro kinds of cameras to capture the immediacy of Darren’s day to day mission.
