Awesome show! I love that story - pulled me right in!
This dude Tariq REAAAAAALLLLLLLY needs to learn to take differing opinions without getting upset.... That's why 90% of his callers only say:
"Yo Tariq, I 'preciate you dawg!"
The caller is right, an economic base should precede getting money. Really, what if every black person in America was receiving extra funds from the government? We'd just end up giving it to the white man anyway.
We would STILL have a corrupted WHITE SUPREMACIST government that can pass laws to take our money away at any time...
That wouldn't stop cops from setting us up and throwing us into prisons in droves (where's your money then?)
That wouldn't stop the media from shitting on us.
I agree with what the caller was saying... Pool our resources... Elect politicians who do shit for US!!!
Elect Judges that look out for US!
I feel where your coming from on this. But It doesn't matter if some Blacks spend all their money with everybody else. That's just going to happen. There's no way we can get all of the Blacks on the same page. Most Blacks don't see the importance of our own economic base. Too much individualism.
Real talk. "Reparations" is a fair concept in theory but black people can't expect white people to be fair and throw us a bone years later. They throw us under the bus subliminally every day, why would they give us this big break.
Group economics sounds a lot more realistic and achievable.
you're right we need group economics. But, we also need to quit being scared to put in work. Once we get serious everybody will take notice.
"Elect politicians who do shit for US!!!
Elect Judges that look out for US!"
politicians and judges are bought and sold. elections don't mean jack. Buy the people who buy the people who buy the politicians.
I think what people keep missing is that reparations will be the first time black people will a) be on the same page with an agenda b) confront the white system directly
EXACTLY!!!Its more than just about money or "getting a check" its about us coming together and proactively attacking racism white supremacy head on with one common goal.
Agreed on Tariq. He gets so used to telling dudes they're wrong or making fun of them (which IS funny) that when someone calls in with a legit point, he has lots of difficulty acknowledging it.
Really glad he finally agreed with the guy and acknowledged his points.
Politics always requires funding. So just like the Japanese, the economic base is essential.
And Reparations? Part of it is the money and part of it is the Principle.
Just think about it. Even if it was a shit amount of money and every penny got spent with non black business, just the fact they acknowledged the crime and paid for it would be huge.
But more amazing things have happened in civil rights, so I guess it is possible.
Hey Tariq when does your show start so I can call in man?
Thanks for the story. Very inspiring.
When you do work for someone that you DID NOT volunteer for free you expect receive payment for your labor. What you will do with that money once they pay is none of their concern for they are in YOUR DEBT for services rendered. Once pay you what they owe you they or no one else (unless an act of thievery occurs) can LEGALLY take it away. Slavery was not volunteer charity work done by our ancestors and deep down, truth be told, white Americans know this is well. They may play dumb but that is their strategy to tug at our heartstrings and make us soft, while they prey on us like sharks socioeconomically. They know they are in debt for the hell they put us through but they want us fight. Of course they aren't going to GIVE us reparations because who in their right mind wants to jeopardise their position of power. Blacks receiving reparations would almost single handedly crush white supremacy due to the fact that one of the main legs it stands on is economics.
Black people I know this scares you to death, but we are going to have to fight. I don't mean fight with a gun or fist but with knowledge and intelligence. They are setting up the pieces on the grand chessboard that is the US to destroy and if we don't start making moves now there may be no tommorow. Now is not the time to be suffering from C.A.N.S. (coon ass nigga syndrome) this is more than just "getting a check" this is stand up for ourselves as FULL Men and Women and letting the dominant society know they have fucked us over long enough and we are not going to take it anymore. We are "asking" you for a damn thing, you are going to pay us what you owe us or we are going make thing look very bad for the stars and stripes. I understand all this coon plantation nigga talk is a residual effect of fear that has been ingraved in us over the past 4 centuries, but as the great ancestor Book mon once told his people during the haitian slave rebellion" You want to win? Then throw away your white god and fight with your African spirit and you ARE victorious. It is better to die standing up for something than to live like a coward and pass that legacy on to the next generation.
This is beyond talk radio. This is art.
Episode had me dying with that dancing story. That 80's music had me feeling like I was watching Beat Street.
Great story new favorite show!!!
This dude Tariq is on another level. I could just visualize that story. The man Tariq gave us a screenplay right there. Big ups!
A man with confidence can win over a man with a model look. Truth be told, women get over good looking men really quickly. But a man with skill, confidence and charisma will never be lonely. Great show...
