I didn't even listen to this podcast yet and the answer is YES!

Not only are we too quick too forgiving but we're too quick to make excuses for them too... Meanwhile Ray Rice, Chris Brown, Michael Vick and OJ Simpson will be hated by the white community for all of eternity.

I know our community is overwhelmingly religious, but this "turn the other cheek" shit hasn't helped us for the last fee centuries. It makes us seem weak, because the dominant society knows we'll take them back after any offense.

Do you think a girl will respect a guy who'll be with her no matter what she does?

Ray Rice - I don't like how he hard he punched her, but it looked like it would've been another Jay-Z / Solange situation if he didn't, and I can't stand the hypocrisy.

Chris Brown - Don't know what happened, for all I know she pulled a gun out on him... I remain neutral due to lack of evidence.

Michael Vick - Animal abuse is not cool, but if these white folks don't mind human beings getting killed they need to SHUT THE FUCK UP about the dogs.

and OJ Simpson - HE WAS PROVEN 'NOT GUILTY' in the court of law! A white person who was proven guilty on VIDEO, they'll make excuses for, but for a guy they can't prove did it they are resentful.

Any other time it's "I don't agree but the law has spoken" to these people except for when the defendant is black!

Respect is a two way street and calling black women "bitches" is a dead end. Who cares what other ethnic groups do but black men and black women...we all we got. I won't begrudge anyone his "fine white woman", but give me a black chick.

Last night, I met a bunch of black women at a social. NO HOODRATS. All the black women were cooperative as far as conversation and respect. So yeah, a pox on calling black women bitches. Avoid those who act like hoodrats and bed wenches and you will NEVER want to call a black woman a bitch. I understand how black people are programmed for self-destruction so even when I meet a tripping sister, I try to give her some knowledge before keeping it move. It's funny how Tariq calls Stephen A Smith a coon, yet when it comes to others that do real cooning such as Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry, he gives them passes. It's so obvious that Tariq wants to work with Tyler and Steve Harvey so he doesn't want to burn any bridges. I really think that it bothers Tariq to see another articulate brother around his age getting so much national spotlight. I didn't hear Tariq give Steve Harvey a pass, at all. What I heard amounted to sympathy b/c he genuinely likes the guy but understands how being successful in hollyweird works. As someone pointed out in this thread, if you dance to the music you've got to pay to the piper.

I also don't think Tariq is envious of either Tyler or Steve and working with them would require more than I think Tariq is willing to surrender. I think Tariq is a lot smarter than that, at least, I hope he is.

I have to disagree with the critique of President Obama, coming specifically from black people. Black folk voted for Obama but provided nowhere near the infrastructural support he would need to actually muscle anything through Congress that would benefit blacks. Seriously. WTF did black people bring other than votes and hope? What about money? What about a political machine?
Let a jew, asian or a woman win an election and I guarantee that candidate will have a SHADOW ARMY waiting in the background. Let Hillary win in 2016 and see how many woman rally under her banner BEFORE and AFTER her victory. Then Hillary can deliver something for women.

I hate using the gay community as an example because black people should be further along. HOwever, the gays came to Obama with more of an organization than the blacks. That is why they got something. The DoJ stopped pushing DOMA. Don't Ask Don't Tell went away, etc,etc. The gays brought Obama votes, money and an agenda.

How can we blame Obama for not doing anything for blacks when black people were realistically not even ready for a black president. And people need to understand how our political system works. Obama is president not emperor. You need a strong lobbyist machine to write laws and change the status quo. Black people do not even have a strong lobby influence, which is what is need to change Congress. Let another black candidate win and 2016 and black people STILL won't be ready.

Asking one person to do for a nation what that nation won't do for itself(push a common agenda) is a bit much, IMHO.

I really hate that notion that Obama couldn't help us b/c we didn't bring him an agenda...

I mean, the man IS black, and he did mention that he knows the problems African Americans face in this country. He could've very well advocated for black people himself without being begged to do so. He did make some changes to the crack laws, that I have to acknowledge.

Obama knows one of our major problems is being mistreated by the "justice system", that would be a major issue to challenge. But then again, I have know way of knowing whether or not his hands are tied by other powers. Though a direct attack on Obama would be unlikely, he does have a family (Hell, I think this is the reason most Presidents have families... as insurance that they don't become too revolutionary) but I digres... :-)

What part of the justice system would you suggest Obama tackle? I am not even trying to be sarcastic. I thought through that question myself. There are 50 states and who knows how many localities, each with their own rules, regulations and laws. All that to say, the opportunities for mistreatment are huge. Until black people have a power base that is rooted in a community and economy, we are at everyone's cruel mercy. I liked the phrase Tariq used: "black people are de facto criminalized". When people know you have money and power behind you, then you are less likely to be de facto criminalized. Imagine a vibrant black city where you can live AND work. When a cop pulls you over, a black cop, you can relax in knowing that it is not racial profiling, because, hey, you KNOW the cop from around the way. You two chop it up for a few minutes, he tells you to go slow next time and let's you go on your way. That's walking in power.

I really hope black people stay focused on accumulating wealth that can be pooled with other black people. Anything else is a distraction. I mean, if Hillary wins in 2016 what are black people going to do? Wait until the next black President comes along in 2208? Jews and Asians don't give a good damn who is president, they still pull strings.

We don't know that it takes more than going to the polls on election day. To have an agenda you have to write a check (that doesn't bounce)! THEN you can lobby for what you want. Steve is clearly being pressured to bring Paula in to "mentor" black boys. If he wanted to give them a good example of the culinary arts making someone successful he could easily have asked folks like Marcus Samuelsson, Haile Thomas or Ron Duprat. I understand your anger, because I feel the same way, but this is a lesson I learned and many of us intelligent blacks need to learn, Just because Steve Harvey has our skin don't make him our kin. Many black celebrities and athletes are not worthy of our adoration. Say he were to start something, like a block grant of money to black males, and then something happened to him? Where would black people be then? Right back where we were before..with nothing. Movement are hard work. Black people stay stuck waiting on some variation of a messiah, either white Jesus or black Barack. President Obama "advocating" for us would be like having another march or another empty protest. White people respect power and money. That about it. Those groups have high concentrations of power. Anyone at the top is just a symbol, a figurehead for all of the foot soldiers putting in work. I really want black people to get away from believing one person can fix ANY of our problems.

He presides over the country, and I don't see him as a "black leader" but he is a "leader". That's another burning question I have too:

In Hidden Colors 2 & 3, they spoke about how black people put their money together - to buy guns in Haiti and to put into a collective bank - respectively and the white powers that be took that money and we have nothing to show for it. Now what if we assembled again history won't repeat itself?

Yeah, this is going to be a long essay but I was kicking it last night with black Americans and Africans so I am FIRED up.

Police reform means getting control of the mayor AND city council. The mayor appoints a police chief who sets policy on acceptable police behavior. City council co-signs all of that and a cop who wants to work in that city has to toe that line because the mayor, city council and police chief are on the same page. Right now, black people have zero power to influence the mayor nor the city councils in their cities. Blacks outnumber Jews and Asians but have less power than either one. That is a LOCAL problem, not a federal problem that Obama can influence. The best he can do is tell the DoJ to investigate but that the DOJ is too easy to slow roll. Unless you fix everything in 8 years, the next administration will just change priorities.

Obama has been undermined at damn near every turn in his administration. Even white people think the Secret Service is trying to kill him at this point. THE SECRET SERVICE!!! Obama is one step away from working his own security detail for his family so how in the world is he going to have any influence on a local police officer ?!?

Nah, homie. The goal should be a distributed and decentralized group of black people with money and power. ABANDON the federal government and just buy the people who write the laws. Seriously. Where is the black equivalent of JStreet or AIPAC?!? Jews barely have any elected officials and you can't tell them anything. Blacks need a lobbying front.

Again, using the gays as an example is a disgrace given on how much blacks have bled for civil rights. But the gays focused on 2 main issues over the past 30 years: HIV treatment and "Marriage Equality". All of their money and fund raising went to those causes. They have their own lobby and advocates. So of course Obama threw a fit on their behalf. What did black people bring him other than votes which are useless AFTER he gets elected? The gays, especially Hollywood, were raising money for Obama like mad.
I think Obama outraised McCain and Romney. Think about that.
The Kenyan ended up with more money than two privileged white boys.

I was talking to a black lady about Haiti last night. She was hyped about black identity. Haiti was the first black independent Republic. I know people like to diss them but Haitians back then preferred to DIE rather than remain SLAVES. For their quest for freedom, the USA and EUROPE punished that little nation HEAVILY. That is why Haiti is jacked up today. By DESIGN. The white man, especially those in America, did not want a vibrant free black nation next to a nation of slavery and Jim Crow.

So in summary Haiti, was outmaneuvered,outspent, outgunned and overpowered. There is NO shame in that. It is what is.

In 2014, black people have just as much access to money, firearms and technology as anyone else. Unless you want military grade equipment, you can pool money to buy damn near anything. Or BUILD your OWN. White people are uploading schematics on how to PRINT YOUR OWN GUN. Those schematics are available to EVERYBODY.
The white man will sell a black American damn near anything he wants to buy. What is that saying, the capitalist will sell you the rope you would use to hang him? So with all of the information black people have on propaganda, secret wars, spies, agent provocateurs, guerrilla warfare, the long history of the USA and Europe in Latina America and South America. There should be NO SURPRISES. All of it is documented. So black people, at a certain level have to WANT TO LOSE.

First off Warren Ballentine already exposed Steve Harvey as an agent you can google it Steve got messed up with taxes then got called to the FBI for a meeting and they went into a joint partnership for the " minority boys" mentoring program. Why would the FBI be interested in something like that? Second I'm from Savannah Ga where Paula Deen is from I belive she is a theft because the recipes she making money from comes from the blacks that took care of her as a child. But there is a guy who went to high school with me who is her body man he goes everywhere she goes all over the world, she bought him a house she even help him start his own car service company she bought the whole fleet Mercedes sprinters and all. We can rise above all this if we can stop dissing eachother and start respecting eachother. We dont need a leader or other group to improve.
